Invited presentation at the CLHIA Disability conference in Toronto.
Drs. Eva Svoboda and Sabrina Lombardi had the pleasure of presenting an education session on evidence-based management of concussion to all major life/disability insurers in Ontario. The talk was well-attended and our audience was engaged and interested in improving return to work numbers for individuals experiencing concussion with persistent symptoms. Our emphasis in the talk was on the importance of providing timely education and evidence-based treatment to individuals experiencing persistent symptoms with the aim of reducing prolonged and unnecessary disability. This is particularly important for individuals with risk factors for a prolonged recovery - see our concussion blog for more details. Key factors were also reviewed pertaining to when a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation is indicated with the aim of identifying and assisting those individuals who may not expect a full recovery.
