Dr. Sabrina Lombardi
Dr. Sabrina Lombardi is a co-founder of Toronto Brain Health and is a registered psychologist with significant experience in rehabilitation. She provides assessment and therapy services for the Concussion treatment program as well as the Psychological Health, Acquired Brain Injury and Healthy Aging and Dementia Services. She strongly believes in client-centered, evidence-based care, where she works with the client to develop and further individual mental health and cognitive goals. Dr. Lombardi also gives regular invited talks and presentations on the topic of concussion education and management to academic, health professional and lay audiences.
Dr. Lombardi obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University with declared competency in the areas of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology. She went on to complete a clinical postdoctoral fellowship at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute at UHN through her work with the Canadian Sports Concussion Project (CSCP- now known as the Canadian Concussion Centre). Dr. Lombardi’s work with the CSCP centred primarily on neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation and therapeutic intervention (i.e., cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness) of athletes and non-athletes who have sustained multiple concussions. She participated directly in the development and implementation of a combination therapy program for retired professional athletes which included cognitive strategies, cognitive behaviour therapy and mindfulness meditation. Dr. Lombardi co-developed and co-facilitated a bi-monthly, two-night concussion education and support workshop series for non-athletes with persistent symptoms of concussion. She has also given numerous invited presentations on the topic of concussion at the University of Toronto, the Annual Symposium given by the Canadian Concussion Centre on Research on Concussion Spectrum Disorders as well as at other UHN conferences and workshops.
Dr. Lombardi previously worked at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Complex Injury Outpatient Rehabilitation (CIOR) program where she provided both neuropsychological and psychological assessments as well as therapeutic interventions for patients with acquired brain injury. Her services at CIOR included several therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioural, emotion-focused, and client-centered therapies. She worked with a wide-range of patient populations ranging from mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
In addition to her work at Toronto Rehab, she has also provided psychological services at West Park Healthcare Centre, Bridgepoint Health as well as at Baycrest Health Sciences in the Memory-Link program, where she delivered one-on-one memory rehabilitation to individuals with moderate-to-severe memory impairment due to acquired brain injury. Dr. Lombardi also trained at Baycrest during her internship which included neuropsychological assessment of older adults. She completed additional training at Humber River Regional hospital and Sunnybrook hospital in clinical psychology and neuropsychology respectively.
Dr. Lombardi is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Her practice areas are in clinical neuropsychology and clinical psychology across all adult ages (18-90+). She is also a member of the Ontario Psychological Association and the Canadian Psychological Association.
